Out of Hospital Neonatal Life Support Training

The Network is pleased to be coordinating training bursaries to support development of instructors for Neonatal Life Support (NLS) and Generic Instructor Course (GIC) training programmes, and to enable community colleagues to undertake Out of Hospital NLS (OHNLS)

There are four streams available:

  • Stream A – For individuals identified as having Instructor Potential (IP) from NLS/OHNLS to undertake GIC.

  • Stream B – For experienced NLS/OHNLS instructors aiming to become GIC instructors.

  • Stream C – For qualified neonatal GIC instructors to be released from clinical practice to teach GIC.

  • Stream D – For community midwives and paramedics to undertake OHNLS.

This initiative is funded collaboratively by the Cornwall & Isles of Scilly (CIOS), Devon, Somerset, Gloucestershire, Bath Swindon & Wiltshire (BSW), and Bristol North Somerset South Gloucestershire (BNSSG) Integrated Care Boards (ICBs) using national NHSE funding, and is available to staff working within these ICB geographies
