 Information about the neonatal unit

  • From labour ward and postnatal ward please ring the internal doorbell and staff will buzz you into the unit.

    From outside, please use the neonatal unit main entrance. Press the buzzer, and staff will open the door for you.

  • Please talk to the nurse who is supporting you in caring for your baby. The nurse in charge of the unit on each shift and the unit manager are also available.

  • Please do let us know if you have any concerns or worries. The nurse caring for your baby, the nurse in charge, the Unit Manager, Consultant, Matron or PALS are available to help you.

  • Consultant ward round from 9am daily.

  • Two double bedrooms, one with en suite facilities.

    Three single bedrooms.

    Transitional Care room with 2 beds and cots.

    League of Friends bungalow with 7 bedrooms.

    Overnight beds at your baby’s cotside.

    We encourage and support you to be with your baby as much as you are able, please ask if accommodation has not been offered.

  • Kitchen with facilities for making drinks and simple meals.

    Daily packed lunch for parents.

    Accessible shower room.

    Toilets.

    Quiet room.

    Expressing room.

    Garden.

    Free WiFi is available in all areas.

  • Breastfeeding support from all Neonatal and Maternity Staff.

    Specialist neonatal feeding team.

    Expressing room.

    Breast pumps at each cot space.

    Breast pumps available to take home when your baby is in the neonatal unit.

  • TOPPS Day Nursery on the hospital site may be able to offer occasional play sessions.
