  • How to reach the hospital by car

    From Exeter/Newton Abbot

    Take the A380 towards Torquay.

    • At the “English Riviera” roundabout (signposted Torquay straight on) take first exit.
    • Pull immediately into far right-hand filter lane. You will see hospital signposting from here.
    • At the traffic lights continue into old Newton Road.
    • At the mini-roundabout again turn right (signposted to Torbay Hospital All Depts.).
    • This is Cadewell Lane, after a short distance you will see the entrance to the hospital site on your left.

    From Torquay

    Take the Newton Road out of central Torquay, towards Exeter.

    • At the third set of traffic lights past Torre Station, turn left and into the entrance to the hospital site that is straight ahead of you. This is the Lowes Bridge entrance.
    • Follow signs to Navy Zone Car Park A from here through the hospital site.
    • If you overshoot this entrance, don’t worry – just go left at the next mini-roundabout (signposted Torbay Hospital All Depts.) and you will see the Cadewell Lane entrance after a short distance, on your left.

    From Plymouth

    For the A38 take the A385 for Paignton and then follow direction for Paignton below.

    From Paignton

    • Take the A380 ring road until it ends at the “English Riviera” roundabout (signposted Torquay to the right and Exeter to the left).
    • The hospital is signposted from here.
    • Take the second exit off the roundabout.
    • Pull immediately into far right-hand filter lane. You will see hospital signposting from here.
    • At the traffic lights continue into old Newton Road.
    • At the next mini-roundabout (signposted to Torbay Hospital All Depts.).
    • This is Cadewell Lane, after a short distance you will see the entrance to the hospital site on your left.

    Bayview Restaurant (Mon-Fri:  11.45 -14.30 / Sat-Sun: Closed)
    Lunch is served in the main Bayview Restaurant providing freshly prepared hot dishes and desserts plus salads and sandwiches - either as a take-away option or to eat in.  Wi-Fi and computer access are available for internet use.

    Bistro@Bayview (Mon-Fri: 0800-20.00 / Sat-Sun: 10.00-18.30) The Bistro@Bayview (serving Costa coffee) offering a selection of teas, coffees, cakes and snacks, as well as cold drinks, grab and go sandwiches, panini and bacon/sausage baps as well as breakfasts. Wi-Fi and computer access are available for internet use.

    Bayview Coffee Bar (Mon-Fri: 08.00 – 16.30) Located in the Hospital's main entrance on Level 4, the Bayview Coffee Bar serves freshly brewed coffee and tea, with a selection of sandwiches and treats. A small seating area is available for customers to use. Wi-Fi is available.

    Café at the Horizon Centre (Mon-Fri: 0830 – 16.00) The Horizon Centre is part of the Trust's training hub and is located near the Lowes Bridge entrance to the Hospital. The Café at the Horizon Centre offers a relaxed, welcoming environment in which to enjoy a break.   The Café serves a selection of jacket potatoes, paninis, club sandwiches, cakes, fruit-pots and refreshments, with seating both indoors and out. Wi-Fi and computer access are available for internet use.

    Butterflies Café (Mon-Fri: 09:30 – 16.30) Located on Level 2 near Outpatient reception, the café run by Torbay Hospital’s League of Friends offers a variety of hot and cold drinks, snacks, sandwiches and wraps as well as cakes and buns (gluten free items available). A selection of greetings cards are also available to purchase.

  • Shops On Site

    Stringers Newsagent (Mon-Sun 08.00-20.00) Level 4, Main Entrance Operating a daily trolley service every Monday to Saturday morning. The shops sells a wide selection of grocery items including: freshly made sandwiches, snacks, pasties and pies, confectionery, cold drinks, bottled water, fruit and ice creams. Daily newspapers are available as well as a wide selection of popular magazines, comics and novels. You can also purchase phone cards, lottery tickets, toiletries, toys and gifts, films and cameras, cards, flowers plus much more. Cashpoint available which accepts majority of major cards.

  • Religious and Spiritual Support

    Chaplains Team work as part of the healthcare team based in Torbay Hospital, ensuring that patients and visitors receive holistic care, which includes the spiritual and religious dimension to our lives. We are also here to support staff in the demanding work they do. There is usually a chaplain present in the hospital 8.30am – 5.30pm, 7 days a week. There is always a chaplain available on call.   • Parent and Family Liaison Services

    Patient Advice and Liaison Service is available for patients, their families or carers. If you have been unable to resolve a problem by speaking with the healthcare staff directly involved, they can help you with your questions or concerns.
