I am a registered Children’s Nurse, Advanced Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (ANNP) and experienced Lecturer. I have been devoted to neonatal care since qualifying in 2004. Having trained and initially worked in north wales, I moved to Cardiff University Hospital of Wales to experience care in a surgical tertiary unit, with a period spent nursing in Sydney Australia. It was my early interest in improving developmental care and my passion for networking that brought me to the South West Neonatal Network whereby I spent many enjoyable years working as senior nurse, practice educator and then ANNP at Southmead NICU Bristol.
I returned to Cardiff NICU for an ANNP role with designated time for quality improvement and service development. I led within a number of key work streams such as MDT Educational Governance, ATAIN, Developmental and Family Integrated Care. My role as ANNP enabled me to advocate, facilitate and demonstrate that everyone has a role to play in ensuring parents and families feel integral to, and remain at the heart of their babies care across the wider neonatal and maternity team.
I feel privileged to be working alongside the network team as Lead Care Coordinator. I am eager to work with parents and staff within the network to ensure that the quality care for babies and their parents is celebrated and that we continue to strive for greater care experiences.
