The NHS has made it a priority to reduce the admission of full term babies (those at 37 weeks gestation and over) to neonatal units. With the true desired outcome being a reduction in moderate and severe harm to term babies, admission to neonatal care is assumed to act as an indicator that harm has taken place somewhere in the maternity or neonatal pathway.

In April 2017, the Network published the South West Report on Term Admissions to Neonatal Units. This document has be accessed here.  The programme of work has formed the basis on a ongoing work programme for the South West Neonatal Network. Using the tabs on the left you can access work being undertaken as part of this work programme and the 2018/19 QIPP programme for Reducing Term Admissions
